Kill the truth Leave truth for dead Shoot a silver dollar RIght through truth's head We missed our exit We have no idea where we are Kill the truth Run it down In a Cadillac limo In a gilded crown And rock and roll will never die It just starts to lie And there's no such thing as too much There's no such thing as A pillar that can't be ground to dust We were part poetry and part science No we're half human, half small appliance The architect sits in a darkened booth Kill the truth We hold the present, we kiss the past We put the future in a full body cast Made of broadsheets and an old punk's drool Kill the truth
2.
A fainter smile I've never seen The water line is low Holding on to a technicolor past And I just can't let you go When I was a young boy The water was clear You could see right down to the floor Even though I know now that there's nothing so clean I just can't let you go I just can't let you go The story the way it was told The history that I was sold I just can't let you go The flags, the fireworks, the chrome and the steel Dress up a darkness that's getting hard to ignore But I grew up fed Wonder bread and dreams And I just can't let it go

about

Back to the solo acoustic roots of the Ramblin' Deano project. With the exception of a couple tracks, this record is less literal and strident than the first two. More like the fevered dreams of suddenly isolated singer, watching his country burn.
